Two Karnataka Men Lured by Facebook Ad, Trapped in Myanmar Cyber Scam Camp

Two men from Karnataka, misled by a lucrative job advertisement on Facebook, found themselves trapped in a cyber scam operation in Myanmar. Their ordeal highlights the growing dangers of online job frauds and human trafficking.

Hailing from Bengaluru and Mysuru, the victims, identified as Rajesh K. and Suresh N., responded to an ad promising high-paying IT roles in Southeast Asia. After being flown to Mae Sot on the Thailand-Myanmar border, their passports were confiscated. They were then forced to work 16-hour shifts in cyber scam centers, coerced into defrauding individuals globally. They endured deplorable conditions, physical threats, and demands for hefty ransom from their families for their release.
