How to Protect Yourself from UPI and Banking Frauds: Key Safety Tips
With the rise of digital transactions, cybercriminals are using techniques like phishing and fake UPI requests to steal money. Learn how to stay safe.
Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has revolutionized financial transactions in India, making payments fast and convenient. However, this growth has also attracted scammers who exploit lack of awareness. Common methods include fake cashback links, screen-sharing apps, phishing SMS, and spoofed customer care numbers on search engines.
It is crucial to understand that entering a UPI PIN is only required to send/transfer money, never to receive money. Scammers often send request money notifications (collect requests) pretending to send rewards. Never share your OTP, UPI PIN, or bank passwords with anyone. Banks or government departments will never ask for sensitive credentials over phone calls or SMS.
