The blue economy encompasses far more than just fisheries and ports. It includes diverse sectors such as marine tourism, shipping and logistics, ocean-based renewable energy, marine biotechnology, and deep-sea resource exploration. With a coastline stretching over 7,500 kilometers, India possesses significant opportunities to create vast employment in these areas. The government is actively pursuing initiatives like the ‘Sagarmala Project’ and the ‘Deep Ocean Mission’ to realize this potential.
