Karnataka Government Implements Free Bus Pass Scheme for Students

The Karnataka government has officially issued an order for the implementation of the free bus pass scheme, benefiting students across the state. This significant move aims to ease the financial strain on students and their families, ensuring that transportation costs do not hinder their access to education.

The scheme, which was a key promise, will allow eligible students to travel free of charge on state-run public transport buses. This includes services operated by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), and Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC).

Officials from the transport department stated that detailed guidelines regarding the application process, eligibility criteria, and the commencement date for issuing these passes will be released shortly. The government anticipates that this initiative will significantly boost school and college attendance, particularly among students from economically weaker sections.
